David Heid, Assistant Coach – 14 Purple
David caught the volleyball bug in the mid 1980s and have never found a complete cure.
His volleyball “career” began in Portland, Maine where he played in an adult city league each fall and would move on to some other activity in the spring. It was the winter of 1984 when the “bug” really bit him. One night of volleyball each week just wasn’t enough medicine – not even close.
After a couple of years of playing 3 to 4 nights per week, he had improved his game enough to get invited to play in tournaments with more advanced players. Within another year he was totally immersed in the sport. David joined the Maine State Volleyball Association and Yankee Volleyball (part of USA volleyball) as a club player. He was playing indoor tournaments in Maine and Massachusetts during the winter and running a grass doubles league in the summer. Nearly every summer weekend you could find him playing on the sand at Old Orchard Beach. David helped organize, officiate and direct tournaments for adults at the University of Southern Maine and other locations. In 1989 his club team (The Irish Setters) won the Maine state championship (level B) defeating the University of Maine men’s club team.
After moving to the Pacific Northwest, he continued to play club ball in the Seattle-Tacoma area until he moved to Corvallis, Oregon in 1995. In 2007 David renewed his passion for the game (and extended his volleyball education) working clinics and a couple of summer camps in the Vancouver area for Christie Strawn. Christie is an enthusiastic and highly experienced coach having played division-1 volleyball and coached at Cornell University.
Last season he joined CCJV as an assistant coach to Shawn Perez for the U14 purple team and had a wonderful, rewarding season working with the club’s players, parents, and staff. In September of 2009 he became a volleyball official with the Washington Officials Association and has had the privilege to work many competitive high school matches this year.
For a career, he was a process engineer for 24 years in the computer chip manufacturing industry. His new “real” job is working as a staff assistant with ESL students at Harmony Elementary school in the Evergreen District.
Cheyanne Knight, Coach – 14 Silver
Cheyanne was a 3 year starter, as a middle blocker, at Prairie High School (1994-1998) for her aunt, Chelinda Dettorre. As a senior, she was named Washington State Player of the Year.
Cheyanne was awarded a full-ride scholarship to play Division I volleyball at the University of Portland and played through her junior year until a knee injury ended her playing career. She assisted the team as an undergraduate assistant her senior year. (1998-2001). In 2002, Cheyanne graduated with a B.A. in Social Work and Psychology.
She has worked with people with developmental disabilities since she graduated, mostly in the school system and with a focus on children with autism. She is currently a Job Coach/Employment Specialist for adults with developmental disabilities at Innovative Services Northwest.
She was the Varsity Assistant Coach at Heritage High School with Chelinda for 4 seasons (2002-2005), 3 of which they were League and District Champions and placed 6th and 7th at the State Tournament respectively, one year winning the regional tournament which required they play with the SPSL and Narrows leagues to get to State.
She is in her 4th year as Head Coach at Skyview High School (2006-present) and in that time her team went from 4th in the League to 2nd (2006), then to three-time League, District, and Bi-District Champions.(2007, 2008, 2009) Three state appearances with one 3rd place finish. (2008) Skyview has been the Washington Academic State Champions two years in a row (2008 and 2009). Coach Knight has been the League Coach of the Year three years in a row too (2006-2009).
She has coached 2 years of club in the past with her sister Rachael (16’s Black). Cheyanne is excited to get involved in the club scene again coaching 14’s. Her goal is to make Southwest Washington volleyball better and that starts with our young kids.

A.J. was a middle blocker for the OSU Beavers 1982-1985, and has played recreationally on and off since then. Her fondest college memories are from playing volleyball, training and traveling with the team.
A.J. has enjoyed reentering the competative volleyball arena as a coach over the last 5 years. She has coached a middle school volleyball team at King’s Way Christian School, for two seasons, and is entering her third season of coaching club for Clark County Juniors. Her greatest joys in coaching come from the personal connection with girls and their families, and the priveledge of being part of their growth and improvement as people and players, over a season.
A.J. is married to Tom, and together they have two children, Jack and Andrea, and a lovable golden retriver, Teaka. The family shares the love of downhill snow skiing, travel, canoeing, camping, and entertaining.
Irina Agarycheva – Technical Advisor

They placed in the top two positions at District four times, winning the Championship in 2006. The 2005 team won the Region 3-4 Championship.
More than her accolades as a coach, Chelinda “gets it.” With many years under her belt as a club parent (both daughters played for her and had successful college careers) she understands the value of a competitive experience marked by integrity, consistency and character. Chelinda is in charge of coach and player development.
Mary Thompson is a 20+ year educator in Evergreen School District where she teaches Family Consumer Science. Like Chelinda, Mary is an experienced club parent. The mother of a son and daughter, Mary has experienced the club life from the front row of both basketball and volleyball. Her passion is to make these kinds of experiences affordable and available to as many kids as possible. Her gifts and skills as a highly effective administrator will enable her to realize this vision with CCJV. Mary is responsible for all club administration.
Tomas Perez is a local business owner and experienced club dad. With three daughters (the two older are college volleyball players) he knows what it takes for kids to compete successfully in club volleyball. With an extensive background in the non-profit world, Tomas knows how to recruit, train and deploy volunteers in a way that makes organizations not only effective, but fun. His passion is to leverage the entire competitive experience for a purpose higher than wins, losses or college scholarships. He believes sport is a family value that can benefit parents, kids and their communities. Tomas’ is in charge of parent involvement.
