Rachael has been actively involved with volleyball for the last 15 years.  She started playing club volleyball when she was 12 years old playing for Rose City VBC. Rachael attended Prairie High School where she became a four-year letter winner in volleyball and was fortunate enough to participate on the state championship team.  Rachael continued to play club in Longview, Wa for Cowlitz VBC. She attended Clark College where she play for two years but her career was cut short due to a second shoulder injury.

This is Rachael’s sixth year coaching club for CCJV and this will be her fourth year at the 16s level.  She is passionate for the game of volleyball and developing players to reach their potential. She emphasizes teaching technique, strategy and competition all while having fun!  Rachael is excited to be coaching again and is looking forward to what this year has in store.

Lindsey Thompson, Asst. Coach

Lindsey began her  volleyball career in 7th grade and started playing club in 8th grade.  She attended Heritage High School and was on the varsity team for 3 years.  Her senior year, she served as team caption, and was named to the 2nd team all-league and 1st team all-region.  Club experience includes two years at Cowlitz and then two years at CCJV.  She is proud to note that she played on the very first CCJV 18s team.   Lindsey opted to not to play in college and focus on academics and the college experience. Recently, she  graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Family Life with the goal of becoming a high school teacher.  She currently works at the Boys and Girls Clubs of South West Washington as a Volunteer Coordinator.

She is really excited to be coaching with my former club coach, Rachael! Lindsey says, ” I love volleyball and I believe that sports can help you learn life lessons. I think that club is a great way to help you learn new skills and tune up the old. I am excited for the year!”

Nicki Kent, Coach

Kaitie grew up in Lynnwood, Washington where she spent most of her childhood playing soccer. In 7th grade, a friend persuaded her to try out for the school volleyball team- “just for fun.” Despite never stepping onto a volleyball court, she was eager to learn and Kaitie made the team, and quickly fell in love with the sport. Kaitie competed for four years at Lynnwood High School as a defensive specialist. As a natural leader, she was voted Most Inspirational three seasons in a row, and team captain her senior season. Kaitie played club ball for Space Needle Volleyball Foundation in Seattle, where she established herself as an outside hitter- and at 5’6, she is a true believer that height should never stop you from trying!

After graduating from high school in 2006, Kaitie moved to Portland, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Portland State University in 2010. Currently, Kaitie is working for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington administration as the Community Relations Manager.

At PSU, she remained involved with intramurals, and continues to play competitively in adult leagues. Kaitie has experience coaching at youth volleyball camps, building basic skills and developing young athletes. She has coached club at the 14’s and 16’s level. This will be her fourth season coaching club and her first season with Clark County Juniors. As a coach, Kaitie hopes to develop skill, leadership, and inspire a natural drive in each one of her players.

Paul McLinn, Coach

Coach Paul’s passion for volleyball began in 1993 and progressed to competitive level AA beach volleyball as both a doubles and quad player, where he frequented tournaments from Lousiana to the Florida Panhandle.  In 2001 he was asked to by his neighbor to give “tips” to their daughter’s 12/13 year old youth team.  The ”tips” session progressed in him being requested to take over as coach, then age group director the following year for the 250 player recreation program.  Paul met his wife (and mixed-doubles partner), Monica,  playing volleyball in Virginia in 1997; they have two budding volleyball daughters, Alejandra and Eva, who also live for that sweet opportunity to pepper a ball around any chance they get!  He coached the 5/6th grade girls volleyball team at Kings Way Christian School during the 2010 Fall season and plays any chance he can, including taking trips with his wife to the Dominican Republic to meet up with volleyball friends from Slovenia, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Colombia, U.K and all over the world to play…no matter the language, it’s “game on” for volleyball, anywhere!  His players learn not only the fundamentals of what it takes to become a great volleyball player, they learn to love the game with a passion that will carry them to any level of play they set their minds on.  Some of his proudest volleyball moments last season were the team praise that came from CEVA tournament officials who went out of their way to compliment our CCJV team for their gracious play, regarless of what score was showing during a given match!  This is his second year coaching with CCJV.
